In this episode, I share one habit that has has had a dramatic impact on my confidence. I do it every day, week, and month, and it helps me to continue to move forward and to be my greatest cheerleader instead of worst critic. I highly recommend trying this out for AT LEAST a week!

Hey life booster. This is Dr. Amelia health coach and veterinarian here to help you ditch yo-yo dieting people pleasing and perfectionism by breaking the norm and living a life that energizes you from within. I am. Once again, sitting on the floor in my little comforter, I just finished journaling and, I wanted to share an exercise that I have been doing for. Quite a while. Probably, maybe even a couple of years at this point. I can't really remember. It has had such a huge impact on my mindset, my resilience, my ability to feel proud of myself and to problem-solve and to continue to move forward. and honestly, one of the things that I just wrote with journaling was that I feel like I am. Actively living my life and not just getting dragged along for the ride. And. That's a really, that feels so good. And that's a big change from how I felt a few years ago when I just, I did not feel in control at all. I just felt like I was having to go through the motions, everything that I was doing felt like things that I needed to do. I didn't feel like I had much freedom and yeah. And decisions and I felt stuck and I don't feel like that at all. And I do think that one big thing that has influenced that is this really it seemingly simple exercise. So, will call it Sundays for success. That's kind of what I call it. Um, because it's something that I do every week, but I actually do. Daley. And, um, as we're starting a fresh new month, I definitely make a priority of doing it, um, at the end of every month. And I just did that and it's helped me to feel really positive. Um, even though right now, there are some really big things that are going on in my life and big changes that, um, That can sometimes feel heavy or feel like a lot. And doing that exercise is making me feel really great. So I wanted to share it with you. It's absolutely something that I also share. I highly recommend with my clients, um, with a life who's jumpstart program at something that I really encourage. Um, so let's dive in. So what I do is. Every day I wrote down my successes. So I have like a little planner and. At the end of the day, I just like make some little stars and anything that I felt good about. Um, or that was like hard, but I like did it anyway, or like little thing that I did for myself, even if that was like going out for like a seven minute little run right before my shift. Like, that's an awesome thing that I did for me, that felt great. Um, you know, or maybe I stuck up for a boundary or maybe. Finally did something that had been on my list of to do's for a while, or maybe a client just had an amazing win, anything that was positive. I write it down. And then at the end of every week, I take a little bit of time and I write out. All of my successes. So doing that daily is helpful to remember because I guarantee that by the end of the week, you will have forgotten. The majority of those little wins, if you don't write them down. And so it's a really fun exercise for me at the end of the week, just to be like, oh yeah, that was really cool. Or I love look how many times, like I went out for a walk or like went for this little run. Like, that was a really awesome thing that I did for me, or, oh, that was a really great connection that I had with a friend or like a new acquaintance. Acquaintance. Um, and it's just, it's a fun way to reflect on the week in a really positive way. And it makes me feel good too. So like this past week was a tough week in a lot of ways. And yet this helped me to really see the positives. So I write out all of them. And then after that I write any challenges and that's helpful for me to take some time to. Think about, like, why was that something that was hard, you know, with my brain, a lot of the times there will be, maybe I was feeling I'm feeling really distracted. You know, maybe I have been having a hard time with like, not just like looking at my phone a lot, especially at night, you know, maybe I wasn't going to bed as early as I could have, because I was just. On social media. That's always something that I struggle with in part, because I love to connect with you on social media. That brings me joy, but, um, where it's hard to kind of sometimes draw that line and create that boundary. And it's something that I'm always revisiting and, figuring out what feels best for me in this time. So I write out the challenges. I strongly recommend writing your successes first because it helps me to look at the challenges already feeling like pretty positive or proud and good. And so I am not like just, oh, these were like all of the challenges or horrible things that like happened. Weak and coming from like a judgmental place, it's coming from like a curious place. And once again, always just really encouraging you to approach everything from this place of curiosity instead of judgment, because that's how you can problem solve and to move forward and to support and respect your body. Instead of coming from this judgmental place where you maybe are punishing or really, Um, hard on yourself. So after I write down around some of the challenges, that's when I write my new to focus. So I reflect on what was hard and I look forward like what it's coming up for that week or that month. And I just side what I really need to focus on in order to continue to move forward. And I always am thinking about what is a priority. So, uh, if you haven't listened to my first episode, I talk about my authentic code and my core values. That's something that I'm always making sure that I'm really supporting in my actions. So for me, like my core values, that things that are super important to me, are wellbeing, adventure. Connection and influence. And when I am doing things and really focusing on fostering those, that's when I feel really alive and I feel really fulfilled in my life. And I also, um, I have a board like a whiteboard in my room that has, um, my goals either. Just like current and the moment things that I want to be doing, my parking lot things. So those are things that, as soon as I have a little bit of space, they'll be able to kind of come up to my top priority. And then I have just like some big picture, um, things that help me. Overall to know where I'm wanting to move in life. And sometimes those change, which is totally fine, but it just helps me to continue to move forward to be living the life that I want to be living, not a life that makes me feel stuck. So that is something that every week I do. Strongly encourage to do every month, because that helps me to just enter a new month feeling good about what happened and feeling, you know, aware of any parts that felt hard and then ready to approach the new month in a new, fresh way. I am anticipating that April is going to be a time of zone, possibly a big transitions for me. And so I'm recognizing that. I really need to be focusing on supporting my body because change or transitions, they can take a lot of energy. They can take a lot of courage and bravery and that, that can be tiring. And so I'm really prioritizing really, I stepping into that, um, very, very well also really prioritizing, not overloading my schedule and making space for supporting my body and protecting my energy because I know that that's going to be really important for me to continue to show up as my best self for me and for my clients and for my patients. So. I wanted to share that with you. I really, really encourage you. This is a really great exercise for if, especially if you tend to be hard on yourself or you're just always pushing herself. Guarantee that you're going to be so surprised at how many of those little wins you otherwise would have totally forgotten. Like I just finished writing out my successes from March and it was really fun. Cause like there were things that happened at the beginning of the month that I was like, wow. That seems so long ago, but that was only in March. Like all of these things have happened. You're going to be really surprised at all of that. You have done and you are awesome. And I guarantee you don't give yourself enough credit for all of the big things that you did. So try it out even for a month. Just if you can remember to daily, like at the end of the day, before going to bed, that can be a great way. you can kind of do a mind dump, which can be helpful in order for sleeping, but just to end the day on a positive note, write down one to three successes that you had. it can also be helpful to write some things that you're grateful for, and then look back at those each week and each. To continue to move forward and to live the life that you want to instead of a life where you feel like you're just getting dragged along for the ride. All right. And, it would mean so much to me if you are enjoying this podcast or if you. Our findings, some of these tips useful. If you could share this podcast with somebody else who you think could benefit, I am loving doing this and I'm loving, connecting with you. Every time I sit down, what I ask myself is what's something that I could share that could potentially change somebody's life or will really benefit someone. And that's what I then try to share with. So I hope this little tidbit does change your life in a positive way. And if you could spread the love with someone that you love, that would mean so much to me. Okay.
